The ANA Masters swim team has been in existence over twenty years. The first recorded instance of the team competing in the YMCA Masters Nationals was in 1981. There have been at least seven head coaches, Marilyn Fitzgerald, Mike Feldstein, Rick Larue, Debbie Rice, Jon Kovacs, Dan Rogacki, and Rick Battistini (current). Assistants to Dan Rogacki were Rich Landry, Michele Fox, and Jake Jacobsen. The current assistant coaches are Will Wright and Michele Fox.

The ANA Masters swim team consistently has swimmers placing in the USMS top ten lists as well as national champions in USMS Nationals, YMCA Nationals, and Senior National Games. There are National and World record holders as well.

Achievements aside, the ANA Masters swim team operates as close knit family of swimmers-some competing and some not. There are regular social functions, planned and spontaneous. The team hosts a pot luck after its November YMCA invitational meet. Team members support each other whenever the need arises.

Some quotes from team members:

"One hour when we can exercise and connect with friends at the end of a busy day." - Rob Swan

"The comradeship among members is exceptional and is a key part of the team's success, in my opinion. For reasons like this we truly have a "magnet" team that draws persons from a much wider area than just Andover." - George Coupe

"I moved to Andover 2 yrs ago and have been on the masters swim team all two years. I have greatly enjoyed the coaches, camaraderie and workouts put forth by the Masters Team." - Gerry Caruso

"I travel an extra 10 miles each weekday and 50 miles per weekend day just to be part of the Masters "family". - Steve Conover

"I just joined this past november, after not being on any swim team since, well, the Nixon administration--
--but I found it a terrific experience. I joined simply to prepare for my first triathlon season, and had no interest in competing--but was welcomed so warmly by the other team members and coaches that I found myself participating in meets, and was VERY excited to participate in the Harvard tournament, and knock more than two minutes off the time I expected for a 1650." - Ken Skier
